About the Project

- Overall objective (Impact): Contribute to the improvement of SRH through the reduction of the fertility rate and HIV incidence rate

- Project objective (Outcome): Increased use of modern contraceptives and increased preventive attitudes and behavior with regard to family planning and HIV

Behaviour Change Communication
Yamaan is the preeminent reproductive health organization conducting behaviour change communication activities with individuals, groups and communities in Yemen. Targeting religious figures, community leaders, youth, pharmacists, and healthcare professionals we promote the benefits of family planning, share accurate information about reproductive health and why it is important in order to create supportive environments that will lead to and sustain positive and desirable health behaviour outcomes. We tailor our medium and message depending on the demographics and characteristics of the target audience. Mediums include presentations, peer to peer programs, TV, radio, and print advertisements.

Training & Quality of Care
Yamaan runs a variety of training activities for medical professionals, religious leaders, community leaders, school counselors, media representatives and youth on reproductive health, family planning and HIV/AIDS.  The trainings range from developing skills for medical professionals (midwives, doctors..) to teaching media representatives about the importance of reporting accurately and objectively on reproductive health issues to teaching religious leaders that family planning is permitted in Islam and beneficial to families and communities.
