Flood Crisis and Humanitarian Response

In 7 August 2024, Yemen experienced devastating floods that worsened the ongoing humanitarian crisis caused by years of conflict. Over 268,000 people were affected, with thousands of families displaced, and extensive damage to homes, infrastructure, and agricultural land was reported.

Floods hit several regions, particularly Al-Hodeidah, Marib, and Al-Jawf, adding to the suffering of families. Difficult terrain and security issues have hindered effective relief efforts.

In response, international and local organizations rushed to provide emergency aid, though resources remain insufficient. Efforts are focused on providing temporary shelters, food, and medical care to those most in need.

In 23 August 2024, Yamaan Foundation, in cooperation with SCMCHA , responded to the disaster by providing essential support to the affected communities. Through their emergency response program, the foundation distributed food baskets and mattresses to families in the hardest-hit areas. More than 500 families were assisted, offering them a lifeline during the disaster.

As Yemen grapples with the flood's aftermath, continued international support is crucial. Preventing future crises will require sustainable solutions, including improved infrastructure and disaster preparedness. The Yamaan Foundation remains committed to supporting the Yemeni community during these challenging times and urges everyone to contribute to relief efforts and help rebuild the lives of those affected.
