Mental Health
In conflict-affected populations assessed by WHO/Lancet in 2019, the prevalence of mental disorders was reported to be 22.1% at any given point in time. In Yemen, where there is a substantial need for mental health services, only 120,000 individuals have consistent access to treatment and support. In contrast, an estimated 7 million people in the country need such services.
The ongoing crisis in Yemen has taken a heavy toll on the physical and mental health of the population at large. The prolonged conflict and protracted crisis further aggravate the high demand for mental health services in Yemen.
Yamaan is introducing the voucher approach to mental health services and healthcare infrurstrcutre rehabiliation, to contribute to this vital area and explore its potential scale-up in the future.
